Jon Petts – Stay and Obey, Sow and Grow
Sometimes God asks you to stay where you are, even when there’s a famine. He wants to bless you where you are, bringing the blessing to you. You do not need to chase prosperity. You need to look to God. Prospering in times of famine will cause you to stand out of the crowd, but might not make you popular!
John 15:19: “If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” Cheerful! But the truth is, God wants you here in the mess of a world that we live in, and we are meant to stand out in some way!
John 17:15: “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
In this message, Jon Petts helps us to understand this idea by thinking about the story of Isaac and Abimelek in Genesis 26.
