We meet again…

In-person meeting on Sunday 1st August!

Yes you saw that right. After all this time, we are able to meet, but not as we knew it!

We have arranged to meet at the Spark Dance Studio on Metherell Avenue TQ5 9QB at 10:30 on Sunday 1st August.

Please come along if you feel safe to do so and try it out. We’d love your feedback. We have intimated to the studio that we may wish to continue with the other Sundays in August but the first is a trial run.

We have decided to keep everything simple and go low-tech, so no band, no PA, and a meeting very much like we have had on Zoom, only with live music instead of videos! We also won’t be sending the kids out for their own programme, but please still bring them along and try to get them engaged with the singing and whatever else is going on.

What many of us have missed so much is interaction with one another. We’ll keep the meeting to an hour to allow for some socially-safe mingling.

Remember the old days in the college hall when some of us used to bring our own coffee cups? Well we’re levelling that right up – please also now bring your own coffee! Why not bring a flask and come in time for a coffee and a chat before we worship together?

I know this is a big step for some of us after such a long time away. We are confident that Spark Studio is maintaining a careful hygiene routine for the building but Coronavirus has not gone away. Please be assured that over the next week the venue will be sending me their conditions of hire which were drawn up since the pandemic. We will comply with these conditions along with common sense and showing respect and love to those who may be more – or less – cautious than ourselves. I may have to send out an update during the week to clarify any considerations we may all have to take.

This should go without saying, but… anyone with Covid-19 symptoms or who is self-isolating should not attend. This includes those self-isolating following a positive test, those who been told to do so by NHS Test and Trace, and those advised to do so by the NHS Covid app. Please don’t put others at risk.

Finally, if all that sounds like too much too soon, please continue to join us on Zoom in the usual way. We will start a Zoom meeting within the hall from my phone, so those not attending can catch what is going on. The experience will be different, but hopefully you will be able to join in at some level.

And remember… this is not our final destination as a church…  It should feel temporary!

God Bless,

Jon, Paul and Verity.
